Today, I was asked a question about using the Facebook For Android app to update a Facebook brand page for which you are an admin. You can't access many of the features on Facebook with the Android app. When you visit Facebook in a web browser, it will show you the mobile version of the site. However, there are some steps you can take to access the full version of the web site on any mobile device.

Option 1 – Direct Link Trick

  1. Login to your Facebook account using the mobile version of the website from the mobile device.
  2. Now type 'https://www.facebook.com/home.php' in your browser, then select 'Go'. Be sure you type the URL it exactly as I specified.
  3. The full desktop version of Facebook should display in the browser.

The effect is that the Facebook footer navigation on their mobile site gets pushed down even further. Soif the mobile footer even had a 'switch to Facebook desktop view' or a'Facebook desktop' link you would likely never get to the point where you could see it, let alone click it. 33,212 likes 67 talking about this. Option 2 – Browser Setting

Android browsers like Chrome have an option to view the desktop version of the page built in. In Chrome, you can select the 'Menu' button located at the upper-right corner, then choose 'Desktop Site'.

In some cases you can change the UAString or User Agent String within the app settings to reflect a desktop browser. This will allow the browser to always render the full desktop version of the websites you visit.

You'll then be able to view the full, non-mobile Facebook site and have access to all of the features you would have on your desktop computer right from your Android.

As soon as you open a Facebook message, the sender will be able to see that you have read the message. If you do not want to convey this information, you can make use of any of the following methods to Read Facebook Messages Without Seen appearing.

Read Facebook Messages Without Seen Appearing

Facebook makes use of 4 different icons to indicate the status of messages on its popular Social Media and Messaging platform.

As you can see in above image, the sender of a Facebook message will see a Faded Blue Circle with check mark when the message leaves his/her device.

As soon as the message is delivered to the recipient, the blue faded circle turns into a Filled Blue Circle.

When the message is read, the Blue Circle disappears and the sender will see a Mini Version of Contacts Profile Picture, indicating that the message has been read by the recipient.

Unlike other messaging platforms, Facebook does not provide a way to turn OFF Read Receipts.

Hence, we are providing below some workarounds to Read Facebook Messages without Seen appearing on the messages.

1. Use Airplane Mode

Android Messages Desktop

During our testing the Seen Status did not appear, when Facebook Message was read after enabling Airplane Mode (Appears to work both iPhone and Android Phone).

The Seen Status appeared only when we started typing a reply to the message, after disabling Airplane Mode.

1. Open Settings on your iPhone and enable Airplane Mode by moving the toggle to ON position.

2. Next, open the Facebook Messenger app and read the message.

3. Close the Messenger app.

After reading the message, you can disable Airplane Mode on your iPhone and start using your device.

As mentioned above, the Message Seen indicator will not appear on the senders device, until you start typing a reply to the message.

2. Read Message Notifications

When you receive a Facebook message, you will see a notification from Facebook on your iPhone.

Unless you have changed the settings, Facebook Messenger Notifications reveal the sender's name and a part of the message.

You can view these message notifications and get an idea about the message. The Seen status will not appear, until you tap on the notification or swipe to clear the notification.

3. Use Facebook.com to View Messages

The third method of reading Facebook Messages without Seen Status appearing on the senders device is to read the messages on the desktop version of Facebook.

Facebook Messages Desktop View Mac

1. Using your computer visit facebook.com and Sign-into your Account

2. Once you are logged-in, you will be able to see Messages in a small pop-up window, located near the bottom-right corner of your screen.

You can read messages in this window and the Seen icon will not appear, unless you click on the message window (See image above).

Tip: You can also use desktop version of Facebook on iPhone.

If you are using an Android Phone or Tablet, you can make use of Unseen App for Messenger to read Facebook Messages Without Seen indicator appearing on the senders device.

1. Open Google Play Store on your Android Phone.

2. On Google Play Store, search for and download Unseen App to your device.

3. Follow the on-screen instructions to setup Unseen App

Once the App is setup, all the Messages from Facebook Messenger will start appearing in the Unseen app interface.

The App allows you to view message within its interface, without making the Seen icon appear on the senders device.

Another App that you can make use of to read Facebook Messages without Seen appearing is 'Blue tick, last seen hider'.

Note: While all the above methods can prevent the 'Seen status' from appearing on the senders device, your 'Last seen time' will still be visible in Facebook.
